drought and dust storms coming....

This is what I'm hearing from the L-rd:

"A dust bowl is coming."

The L-rd tells His people to "Be careful, but know this: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.John 14:27"

  1. Extreme drought in the Great Plains has led to wildfires and now dust storms, reminiscent of the dust bowl of the thirties.

This image from NASA shows dust originating in Kansas and blowing across Texas:

  2. Originating in the southwestern corner of Kansas, multiple plumes of dust blew in a giant arc over Oklahoma and Texas. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite acquired this natural-color image on April 15, 2011.

Dust and smoke plumes mingle in this image, but can be easily distinguished from each other. Smoke plumes are pale gray, and arise from hotspots—areas of unusually high surface temperatures detected by MODIS—outlined in red.

The dust plumes are tan, similar in color to the ground surface in this region. The parallel dust plumes mimic the southwestern margin of a nearby cloudbank. The clouds may be associated with the same weather system that stirred the dust.

As of April 12, 2011, the U.S. Drought Monitor reported that drought conditions prevailed in eastern Colorado, western Kansas, and virtually all of Oklahoma and Texas. Drought conditions in this region ranged from moderate to extreme. Farther south, in roughly the same area where large wildfires burned near the U.S. Mexico border, drought conditions rated as exceptional.

  8. PARIS—France's worst drought on record is set to weigh heavily on its wheat harvest, French Agriculture Minister Bruno Le Maire said Tuesday, potentially further pushing up global wheat prices.

According to a report released by French government weather agency Météo France, the 2011 spring was both the warmest and the driest on record, with a higher average temperature and less rain than in 1976, the previous most severe drought since the agency began compiling the data.

  10. PARIS—France's record drought is threatening electricity supplies, as low water levels reduce hydroelectric power and make it hard to cool nuclear plants, widening the potential impact of the hottest, driest spring in memory.

The warning came as neighboring Germany, from which France often buys electricity, shutters some of its nuclear capacity, effectively eliminating its reserve capacity.

France has had the hottest, driest spring, March-May, in memory.
."We shouldn't be alarmist, but we should be vigilant," French Energy Minister Eric Besson Besson told a French radio show.

    Europe is facing growing economic threats from this year's extreme weather. France has had the hottest spring in memory, according to its weather agency, with average temperatures in March-May 2.6 Celsius above the average between 1971 and 2000;

  11. 'Global weirding' besieges Texas
The wind in West Texas is famously powerful and incessant. But more big blows than anyone can remember have roared through this year, stripping away precious topsoil and carrying off another season of hope for farmers and ranchers.

  12. European drought raises fears of food riots. Instead, they are eating hay intended for the winter after months of drought have turned the fields yellow.

He is wondering whether it might be better to sell his cows at a reduced price rather than find himself without fodder by the end of the autumn. "I'm starting to sleep badly," he said.

Mr Maquis is not alone. With northern Europe facing its worst drought since 1976, politicians in the West are expecting protests from farmers, consumer discontent and a strain on budgets. Third World nations are braced for riots as Europe's heatwave creates a rise in food prices and drives millions deeper into poverty.

  14. The great European Dustbowl disaster
Barbeque Britain is becoming Dustbowl Britain. Before May was out, water levels in many rivers had dropped below the records set in the high summer of 1976. Preparations are being made for a series of water-saving measures, but farmers worry the harvest will be ruined if substantial rain doesn't arrive soon.
